Our Initiative:

The Jal Jeevan Mission stands as a national flagship program of the Indian government, aiming to provide functional water tap connections to every household. This initiative is particularly beneficial for people residing in dry zones or hilly areas, where accessing water often requires significant effort, with distances spanning from 1 to 2 kilometers or more. To achieve this goal, the government has developed various model schemes tailored to specific regions.

In Godda, the government has planned a water supply scheme with the target of covering every household with tap water by the end of 2024. However, this endeavor necessitates capacitating key stakeholders about the schemes, Jal Jeevan Mission guidelines, and the processes of operation and maintenance at the block, panchayat, and village levels.

Our organization has taken proactive steps in this regard, implementing various training programs and awareness sessions with key stakeholders such as Mukhiyas, Jalsahiyas, health workers, and others. These efforts include:

  • Training 2600 VWSC (Village Water and Sanitation Committee) members on the components of the Jal Jeevan Mission and ODF+ (Open Defecation Free Plus).
  • Training 200 PRI (Panchayati Raj Institution) members on the components of the Jal Jeevan Mission and ODF+.
  • Training 1360 key stakeholders on the Jal Jeevan Mission and ODF+.
  • Raising community awareness about safe drinking water components, waste management, and water testing through announcement vans.
  • Conducting awareness sessions on menstrual hygiene management for 72 adolescents.”

These initiatives signify a concerted effort to ensure the successful implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission and improve water access and sanitation practices in the region.
